Principal Lecturer in Communication (Literature and Linguistics)
I work in the Faculty of Media and Communication at Bournemouth University, where I teach on various courses including BA English, BA Communication and Media, and MA English and Literary Media. I am also Programme Leader for the MA English and Literary Media course, Convenor of the seminar series for BU's Narrative Culture and Community Research Centre, and Co-Convenor of the AHRC-funded Digital Reading Network. I am one of the editors of Studies in Comics, one of the UK's leading academic journals in this field, and of the new short monograph series Encapsulations: Critical Comic Studies, and I co-organise the annual International Graphic Novel and Comics Conference (IGNCC). I have previously taught at University of the Arts, London, and Bristol University.
